Staff was helpful and friendly. The young woman at the front desk was very friendly. My only negative was in regards to the clothes we inadvertently left behind. When I called, the young man told me they had them and would mail them to us for a fee of course.
Residence Inn by Marriott Kansas City Country Club Plaza
After 10 days when I still hadn't seen them, I called back and the items were still there waiting to be mailed. Not sure if the post office pony express wasn't working that week but she said the they would go out soon. Still waiting Great location; quiet room. Enjoyed the fireplace in the room but just for a few minutes because it was August I stayed for a week, and they had a good rotation of hot breakfast items available. Easy to get in and out of the garage with no upcharge for parking. Filtered water bottle filler in the exercise room was nice to have.
There is no pool or spa or hot tub at this location. Despite conflicting information from various sites. My kids were very disappointed. The room was super humid while somehow managing to be freezing. We could not get the air conditioner to kick off so it ran loudly all night. The room smelled funny and the beds were extremely uncomfortable. Also, the beds were hard and uncomfortable. Finally, the hotel did not have a pool.
My kids were very disappointed and bored as a result, which did not make for happy parents either. Employees are friendly, the place is clean and the foods for breakfast is good. Perfect location for tourist to visit Kansas City. The staff was confused by the fact that I paid online and tried to charge me additional tax and fees. Parking is also very hard for larger vehicles.
Hampton Inn & Suites Kansas City-Country Club Plaza
The hotel was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the close proximity to the country club plaza. The hotel was described as to having an indoor pool, which it didn't. We had to be in Kansas City and Plaza area for an extended time so thought it made sense to stay here. The lobby staff was very nice and friendly. It doesn't look bad from the pictures, however, the hotel and environment was not good.
It's a great location and area, however, on check in and going to our room, we went in the side entrance and encountered someone sitting on the steps, yelling at a women on FaceTime on his phone, smoking a joint. He didn't even move out of the way for us to pass by.
Thought, okay, maybe just an anomaly. The room was non-smoking and smelled like smoke, woke up stuffed up because of it. The closet just has a curtain, and part of molding had fallen off the side and was on the floor. Maybe my oversight, because I had never stayed at an Extended Stay before, there wasn't even a basic soap or shampoo in the room, or a hair dryer. The door did not shut correctly and you had to push it up. This created a problem when trying to get back in the room! We killed a spider in the bed, and the floors in the entrance kitchen area were sticky.
They state there is a quick breakfast, it consists of instant oatmeal and some granola bars. The fitness center is not a fitness center, an elliptical and a treadmill in a room the size of a closet. There was a lot of noise in the hall after midnight, not sure what was going on. Fortunately, the trip was cut short and we had to adjust and relocate to another area of the city.

Miranda F wrote a review Apr. The hallways had a strong odor of glue or paint thinner. There was a piece of hair in one of the beds, clothes in a dresser drawer and the curtain rod was even broke. The ONLY perk is the location because you can walk to the plaza. I will not stay there again. Date of stay: April Trip type: Travelled with family. TV works well. Now the negative, the room had a very heavy smell of smoke. The bathroom was rough looking.

Pros: The service staff -- the valet and bellhop were absolutely first class! Cons: The front desk staff seemed indifferent. I had to call three 3 times with problems. Sheets on one of the beds were sticky - YUCK!
Tub was missing the knob to make water go to shower and last toilet wouldn't flush. Pros: Location on the Plaza and the Art Fair.
4 reasons to choose Courtyard Kansas City Country Club Plaza
Cons: Room Bathroom was not in good shape and in need of refurbishing. Tub was slow to drain. Shower head fixture loose at the wall. Door trim next to the tub in bad shape. Bathroom not in par with what I expected. Pros: The staff from valet parking to check in to check out was exceptional. Cons: The one thing that I was unhappy about was the staff in the dining room was not good for the amount of money that was spent.
My wife had to wait 15 minutes to get a soda. My first bloody Mary was good but my second one had no garnishments no olives nothing. Pros: The staff was pleasant when I checked in. Pros: The bed was super comfy and very large.
